I work from a social justice-oriented, sex-positive, trauma and environmentally-informed framework to create a safe, collaborative, and empowering space for clients to discover and advocate for a life that embodies their values.
I’m aware of how mental health is influenced by dominant culture ideologies, systemic injustice, and interpersonal relationships, and how these factors differentially impact marginalized identities and those who hold power. I work from the value that living authentically is one of the best gifts that you can give yourself. I take a non-pathologizing, person-centered approach to therapy, meaning that I see the person first, not a list of symptoms or diagnoses. I believe we all have strengths and survival strategies that have gotten us to where we are today.

My approach is neurodivergent-affirming, client-centered, strengths-based, and relational - you are the expert on you, and it is an honor to learn with and from you in the therapy space. My style is integrative of somatic therapies, acceptance and commitment therapy, mindfulness, and narrative approaches; and I bring lived experience and empathy as a neurodivergent, queer, and chronically ill therapist.
Specifically, I am trained in Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, a body-centered approach that helps people process trauma and emotions that can get stuck in the body, which is especially helpful for releasing the shame and stress that get embodied in us from heteronormativity, neuronormativity, capitalist hustle culture, or the various other ‘isms.’ I also draw on my background as a community organizer and my education in environmental studies, religious studies, gender studies, and cultural geography - I view mind, body, spirit, society, and environment as interconnected, and I enjoy working with clients to unpack how these bigger structures impact their lives. I also have a special affinity for working with college and graduate students - after spending 15 years in higher education as a student, instructor, and researcher, I enjoy supporting students through the challenges of academic life, particularly those facing institutional barriers around disability, neurotype, identity, and more. Locations: Bryant, Telehealth James SchwartzClinical Practicum, He/TheyI am excited by working with transgender, nonbinary, and gender expansive folks exploring gender, transition, difficulties, and joys, LGBQIA+ folks, neurodivergent folks, folks experiencing and exploring grief and loss. My work is rooted in my values of accountability, transparency, anti-racism, disability justice, intersectional feminism, fat liberation, and queer/trans theory. read more
I will continually commit myself to fostering space that is client-centered, trauma-informed, and collaborative to best support you as we explore your growth, joys, healing, lows, etc. together. In sessions, I pull from a variety of modalities such as narrative therapy and internal family systems therapy. I’m currently in the process of completing my MSW at the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities and have a bachelor’s degree in Forestry. My background has been primarily working with, alongside, and supporting college students, and gender and sexuality education, advocacy, and training. Some of my current pleasures in life include spending as much time with my dogs as I can, watching reality tv with my partner, at the climbing gym, or getting deep into a special interest.
